Help Shape Our Guidelines for Ethical AI in Education!
This November, we’re inviting your feedback on our Evaluation Schema for AI in Education on Data, Privacy, Ethics, and EU Values. Created as a set of guiding questions, this schema is meant to support educational institutions in reflecting on and evaluating their approach to AI, with a focus on ethics, data protection, and alignment with European values. This resource isn’t an exhaustive checklist, nor is it legally binding; instead, it offers core questions across key areas—such as data security, equity, and teacher-student empowerment—that institutions can use as a starting point to think critically about AI adoption in their educational practices.
Why We Created This Schema And Why Your Input Matters
According to UNESCO’s 2023 guidelines on AI in education, institutions adopting AI should not only meet ethical standards but also support the responsible use of AI by developing the skills of teachers and students. Our evaluation schema offers structured guidance on topics such as diversity, transparency, accountability, and empowerment.
To ensure this schema is accessible, practical, and relevant, we’re looking for your feedback. Whether you’re an educator, administrator, or policymaker, your insights can help shape a resource that addresses real-world challenges and promotes the responsible use of AI in education.
As you will see, each section of the schema includes carefully crafted questions aimed at guiding institutions as they reflect on their AI practices. For instance, questions focus on data privacy (“Is personal/sensitive data being collected by the AI tool(s) (to be) used in the educational centre?”), inclusivity (“If AI tools are being used in assessments, do they align with fair and inclusive evaluation practices?”), and the broader impact on learners and educators (“Has AI implementation improved or worsened learner engagement?”). We encourage you to provide feedback on these questions, specifically on their clarity, practicality, and relevance.
By participating, you help us refine this schema into a valuable tool for ethical AI use in education, ensuring it serves the needs of real-world educational environments effectively.
How to Participate
To make the feedback process straightforward, we’ve provided several resources:
- Click here to Read and Comment on the Document
We’re providing access to the complete schema in a Word document format, where you’ll be able to leave direct comments. As you review each section, please use the comment function to note any parts that you find unclear or sections where additional details might be needed. - Click here to Explore the Genially Presentation
For an overview and easier navigation, view our Genially presentation, which allows you to explore each area independently. Please note that feedback can’t be submitted directly on the Genially presentation—its purpose is to give you a structured look at the schema’s main focus areas. - Click here to Share Your Feedback Through Our Google Form
The Google Form is our primary tool for gathering detailed feedback on the schema’s clarity, utility, and areas for improvement. While direct comments on the document are also helpful, responses here will provide us with a structured overview of user impressions.
Let’s Work Together
Feedback is open throughout November, and we welcome insights from anyone interested in AI’s role in education. By participating, you’re helping create a practical tool that can encourage responsible, thoughtful AI integration in European educational contexts. Thank you for contributing to this meaningful project and for helping shape the future of ethical AI in education!
