AI use case and school visit in Germany
After the project partner ITB became aware of an interesting AI use case in Wolfsburg in Germany, a formed commission visited the school on 14.09.2023. Two ITB scientists and a teacher from the vocational school TBZ Mitte from Bremen were present. They were welcomed on site by the teacher Stefan Manemann, who is in charge of the AI project. After a first guided tour through the school, all participants had lunch in the canteen. Afterwards, students of Manemann presented the project results of the course. The core is the linking of the AI topic with sustainability. In the specific example that one student presented, he used software based on Python to turn down the heating in an example model house when the AI software registers the case, that the window is open and heat goes lost. These real-world examples particularly encourage students to engage with AI because they are linked to everyday cases. They also go hand in hand with teaching students to think sustainable.
