Big tech companies are making the most of their influence. In the first half of the year, many of the 169 lobbyists working for Microsoft and Google talked to politicians and the White House about laws related to artificial intelligence (A.I.), according to documents about their lobbying activities. OpenAI also hired its first three lobbyists, and a tech lobbying group started a $25 million campaign to promote the benefits of A.I. this year.
