Characteristics

The European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency (ECAT) contributes with scientific and technical expertise to the European Commission’s exclusive supervisory and enforcement role of the systemic obligations on designated Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) and Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSEs) provided for under the DSA. The Digital Services Act (DSA) is a legislative initiative by the European Union aimed at making the internet safer and protecting people’s rights online. Algorithmic transparency and accountability are key parts of this protection.
